DIY Homemade Degreaser
This video shows you how to make a quick and easy homemade degreaser from ingredients you probably already have in your home. If you don’t have the essential oil you can buy it here.
- 2 Tbsp Baking Soda
- 2 Tbsp Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (or Dr. Bronner’s Sals Suds)
- 1 Cup Distilled Water
- 25 drops Lemon Essential Oil (Buy it here)
Place all the ingredients into a spray bottle and shake well to mix them up. Just spray on greasy messes, let it soak for a few seconds and then easily wipe it up with a microfiber cloth. (I recommend purchasing microfiber cloths to get away from using paper towels. Microfiber cloths will save you tons of money and help the environment. You can reuse them hundreds of times by washing them in the washing machine.)
The essential oil in this recipe is more for the fragrance than for cleaning grease. It will give your kitchen a clean fresh natural citrus scent. This scent is very uplifting and it smells completely different (and in my opinion much better) than artificial lemon scents found in the chemical cleaners you are currently using.
The ingredients in this mixture are totally biodegradable and safe for the environment, as well as septic systems if you happen to be living off the grid.
The ingredients in this recipe are also safe to use around children and pets. This can be a concern with chemical degreasers you may currently have in your home. The chemicals in those chemical degreasers may be harmful if a small child or your pet were to ingest them.
You should try making this DIY homemade degreaser if you want an easy to make degreaser spray that will clean those greasy kitchen messes while being a green alternative to harsh chemical sprays.
